There are Procedures and then there is Ethics So where do I start with my trip from hell.... I was meant to arrive and check in for a WEEK staying at this property on the Saturday, due to no fault of my own my flight was delayed by 6 hours which meant that I missed my connection flight, as soon as I found out I informed the lovely Mary on reception. As this was no fault of the establishment I sucked up the nights accommodation and informed her that I would be 'officially' checking in late the following night due to the changes of my flight. After finally arriving in Adelaide for my big week of work at the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE), I popped into a welcome function before checking in to say hello to a few industry colleagues, around 10pm I checked into the Adelaide Riviera Hotel and that's where my nightmare really began. When I arrived at the reception desk, Mary was there to greet me. Whilst checking in I was asked for my credit card, as I went to grab my purse out of my bag I noticed that it was not there and then freaked out. Instantly I ran back to the prior establishment to see if it was there which it was not, it had been stolen! Finding a fellow industry friend on the way back I explained what had happened and he escorted me back to the hotel, Mary had with her supervisor Brooke to greet me, when I explained that my purse had been stolen they demanded payment at check in as per procedure - now under the circumstances I was pretty shocked since they had already managed to rip $155 for the previous nights accommodation, my friend offered to leave his credit card as security which got a no as they needed to take payment on the spot. So Brooke took great pride in refusing to let me take my room for the night and resolve the situation in the morning (which would have been easily done as I could of transferred money directly to them as I had already proved who I was), instead I got kicked out on the street with a full city. Luckily my friend had a 5 star couch at the Oaks. At 5.30am the next morning my credit card was charged for the second night and my room for the next 4 nights realised at 3 time the amount and sold within 4 minutes due to a full town. Yes it sucked that my purse was stolen and someone had fun between 1.30am and 3.30am on the Monday morning with my work credit card, the shocking part was how I was treated at the time by this establishment. I work in the tourism industry and was down for an international event, the only bit of light out of this situation was that I work in a close industry and managed to sleep on a couch in an apartment (reading the reviews now, I think I may have been better off), I also had to eat from the convention centre and transfer cash to others so they could pull it out of their accounts for me. Overall I am very saddened on the way I was treated. The Monday after I was kicked out, my GM spoke with Lee the GM of the property. Yes he was very apologetic and said the right words but this will never make up for the experience I was put in thanks to a power tripping Brooke. To end it all, it was pretty embarrassing to ask for a refund due to the unfortunate chain of events this property put me in.

It is a good and convenient place to stay when visiting Adelaide. The pricing is reasonable with good access to the surrounding area.

Paid extra for a superior room but got the view of a building next door. Convenient location and prices get you what you would expect, a dated but clean room.

It's a no frill option. No restaurant. Good spacious rooms. Location is great. Can reach by the tram. 20 minutes from Adelaide hotel. Inexpensive.
