  Alex Gow Funerals did mother-in-law's funeral and everything was just perfect. Mum didn't want anything fancy so we went with the basic and had our memorial service at the jetty near her home. We certainly appreciate all they did to cater for our needs.

  Asked about supplying our own coffin. AG reply - No because; Excuse #1. They are from overseas and therefore do not have "Public liability insurance of $20Million" which AG has. My reply; Rubbish! All Australian businesses must have Public Liability insurance in order to operate and sell these items. (even your motor vehicle policy has this). BUSTED! Excuse #2. The bottom may fall out of the coffin. My reply; How often has this happen with Alex Gow? Never! Same goes for the imported coffins, from the Australian supplier Never! BUSTED! Excuse #3; The imported coffins don't burn properly. My reply; Cremation of a dead body is carried out at a temperature ranging between 1400 to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. The intense heat helps reduce the body to its basic elements and dried bone fragments, this process usually takes about one to three hours to cremate a human body. After burners are also used as required. Each body differs. BUSTED! I believe legislation is under way to prevent this discrimination for using your own coffin from occurring. I will use an alternative service provider who does not resort to misinformation and "Scare tactics".

  Alex Gow at Newstead provided myself and my family exceptional service and support at our recent bereavement. From beginning to end the staff were courteous,kind and professional. There was no commercial pressure or persuasion ever applied to spend more on any necessary funeral item or service. They accommodated the time constraints for family members arriving from across the globe. They patiently enabled us to make our decisions at our pace. Their understanding and patience was exemplary. Our loved one was buried which meant there was the additional logistic of leaving the church and travelling to the cemetery.Alex Gow provided guidance in achieving this. The added extra touch of cold water being served following the burial in the midday heat was a much appreciated example of the attention to detail this funeral company provides. The reasonable costs and the flexible options were very comprehensible. The calm,caring exceptional staff and service is thoroughly recommended.
