When buying a house make sure you go round, and ask what's staying what's going. Came across a Vendor emotionally attached to her home of 32 years. Unfortunately we bought it where she then complained she should never had sold it, left ill feeling and then told us we would wreck the place anyway, many fixtures removed or swapped over without our knowledge. The agents tried to remedy the situation but damage was done.

My wife and I brought land through Barry Plant and couldn't be happier with the service. We dealt with Min who was friendly, informative and definately knew her stuff. Would highly recommend.

More than happy with the entire selling process. I live 3,500 km away from Mildura and Damian Portaro ensured I didn't have to lift a finger or stress. Will also say the follow up was regular and informative. I was referred to Damian by a family who purchased through him and I will also refer him to others.

After a discouraging result from another agent in Mildura, I turned to Barry Plant, having dealt with another franchise in Melbourne that gave a very professional service. I was never dealt with in the same manner by Barry Plant Mildura. After expressing my expectations of the sale of my house, I was assured that they were within the current market parameters, and could expect a satisfying outcome. I received scant correspondence, other than a rather offhanded welcome aboard, and an advertising bill. All other correspondence was by SMS or email, which never included ANY written offers, or indication of interest from named parties. After some 5 months, I was presented with an offer well below the benchmark I had indicated. Completely dejected, I reluctantly accepted it, thinking that the market had ultimately determined its value. When I asked for written confirmation of the offer, I was fobbed off with some rubbish about the holiday period holding up the process, and assured that the offer was solid. Upon the resumption of business, the consultant called me and told me that the buyer had reduced the offer by $10,000 due to an issue with the side fence that would have cost around $200 to rectify, even though the property was offered 'as is", and the buyer was aware of this. I am still far from convinced that the offer was real, and genuinely feel that I was being tested, to gauge my reaction to the offer, giving the consultants lazy attitude towards the entire relationship, an undeserved, and unprofessional boost. It will never happen again, however, we all benefit from experience. The most common feedback I received from the consultant was to spend more money on the property to encourage interest, even though, until this point, there had been none. In other words, "You need to make this property more appealing". What a cop out! Within one week of changing agents, I received an offer, 'IN WRITING', that met my original expectation. The other agent was THOROUGHLY professional, and presented themselves enthusiastically and aggressively, giving me immediate confidence in their service. Look for my review of them among other agents in the area. I don't know about "The red carpet treatment," but I certainly got the TREATMENT. Not a word from them since I had to SMS them to cancel our agreement, because the consultant would not answer her phone. Not a word from the principal to ask why, or to see if I had any issues. Just silence! Not good business. Suits me just fine though. Good riddance!
