Look, the positive and negative reviews on Google both have a point. Yes, the resort is getting a bit dated and could do with a renovation. I think this biggest weakness is that the maintenance on the rooms is really reactive and not proactive. It would be nice if they could heat one of the two main outdoor pools! However the charm is the relaxed atmosphere and the fact it never feels too busy, even where there are lots of people staying. The beach is really lovely and a short stroll to the patrolled area. The staff looked after us and nothing seems to be too much of a problem for them. Itā€™s not a five star resort so if you donā€™t rock up with that expectation then all will be good.

My family and I were en route to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games from Sydney. After a lengthy search for a suitable overnight stay, we came across this resort. We booked an amazing mini cabin, complete with amazing facilities: a large kitchen, a suitable dining room and comfy lounging area. The upstairs bedrooms slept four people. The first room, complete with an ensuite, had two single beds pushed next to each other to create a king size bed and the other room had two single beds set apart. Another bathroom was located upstairs, whilst the third was downstairs. We, as a holiday-loving family, would definitely stay here again, and for much longer. Weā€™d also happily swim in both the pool and beach located only a short walk. However, we decided that the food wasn't of very good quality. Therefore, pick up a snack or meal somewhere else. Hope this was helpful.

Stayed 1 night in this hotel but was surprised to see the dated decor in the room specially the bathroom. However the room had everything you needed. Air-conditioning, ceiling fan, fridge, kitchen corner, sofa, etc. Was sad that no shower gel was provided, just soap. Felt a bit 3 star not 4 star. There are two pool areas, one is more for kids the other one near the reception has a great view of the ocean. The breakfast was okay with good selection of food, but the hash brown was dry and cold.

Imagine our surprise to find the restaurant at our three-star stop off on the way to Byron has a restaurant with $40 main courses. The first surprise, though, was the service. The receptionist, for instance, showed us a map on check- in and pointed out the kids pool. We said weā€™d be going immediately. She didnā€™t mention we could get pool towels only from her. That was something we didnā€™t find out until we drove to the room half a kilometre away (itā€™s a big property). Then the restaurant staff took our Mantra+ drinks coupons but didnā€™t add the discount on the food bill because they ā€œdidnā€™t know we were Mantra+ membersā€. And the waiter who brought out the desserts didnā€™t bother to clear the $40 mains; he just found a small space on the table to slot in the plates. It was so bizarre he could have been playing a joke on us. And donā€™t get me started on the swarm of ants in the room ā€” we couldnā€™t use the space next to the sink. We mentioned it to reception. He jotted it on a Post-It without comment, so no doubt thatā€™s sorted.

Service leaves much to be desired. Not welcoming. Pathways to villas not well lit and numbers of villas not easy to find. Upon arriving in darkness at the villa there was no front light making it hard to open the front door. Once inside the villa light switches are difficult to find and nowhere near front door. I have stayed at the resort twice for work and the unit is stinking hot inside upon arrival and the a/c takes quite some time to cool down. Most disappointingly the staff are not personable, welcoming or helpful either face to face or on the phone. At $260 per night I think anyone would expect much more.
