I stayed here on 25 may 2018. Firstly we received an announcement at about 2:45pm from staff announcing a fire alarm test would alert shortly. Fair enough. Safety in buildings is important. Then 5 mins later after the announcement, the alarm alert finally occurs with a voice saying to leave the building as an issue has been found in the building- it was either a recorded or live announcement but you wouldn't know and it is on this basis that it then became unclear whether or not the test may have been an actual incident requiring evacuation. If ever there was a way to botch a fire alarm test these guys from break free earned the gold medal. And when I went down to talk to them, it was clear this place was a rudderless ship.

Despite being a little bit of an older hotel, the service, attention to detail and atmosphere of the rooms made the stay lovely. Firstly, we wanted an extra heater, so the staff delivered an extra heater free of charge to the room. Secondly, when we came into the room there was jazz music playing from the TV which made the room feel so much more cosmopolitan. Thirdly, we needed some plates and cutlery because we wanted to eat in our room. The receptionist brought us some plates, bowls and cutlery in a very timely manner. Overall it was a great stay in a comfortable room.

Rooms are relatively small, but they are dirty, aged and had a mouldy smell. The carpets have definitely seen better days, only thing that is clean are the linen and toilet. Though the toilet is old too, water takes ages to heat up, Wifi costs 20 dollars a day, which is definitely overpriced in this day an age. If your room is next to the street, it will be very noisy when at night. Wouldn't recommend this place, you could definitely find better places to stay for this price.

The place is filthy, from the second you walk in the front door. When checking in the reception staff member said “just to let you know the room is small, as your one person” Small was an understatement!!!!!! I don’t generally suffer from claustrophobia but walking into this room/box, I got a glimpses of what it must feel like to have it. If I stretched out my arms I’m sure I’d be able to touch both walls! There is hardly any light in the room, I’d say this was done strategically as the walls are heavily marked, sliding door to bathroom is covered in a sticky residue, toilet was dirty, the carpet has a wet dog smell to it and stained to the point you wouldn’t risk walking on it barefoot! I was scared to pull the sheets back, the linen seems to be the only clean thing in the place. I travel a lot for work and I’ve never stayed in a place so filthy, rundown and small. The room was $260.00 per night. I’d say if you can handle these conditions save your money and stay at a hostel. A hostel would probably be cleaner then this place. The receptionist was lovely, she moved me to a new room/box but between the two rooms there was much of a muchness. I’m not one to write a review, but after having no sleep and having to put up with the smell of this horrid room I felt compelled to at 5am! The only thing I can say is you’re walking distance to darling harbour.

Quick and easy check-in and -out. Room was clean and quiet, however the swipe card access for after hours access was out of order at the time. Good location, particularly as it was next to Baxter's!
