Exactly what you would expect. Very interesting. On the day I went for the night show, there was very high winds and they had to cancel it. I, and the 30 or so others, was(were?) refunded in full, and even given a free pass for the next day, without even asking. Very reputable, great experience of the past, great display in the village . The museum was interesting, focused on local shipwrecks and their recovery.

It is a pity that we didn't manage to see the light show the night before because the tickets sold out. I suggest that you book those tickets early to avoid disappointment like we did. On the other hand, the Maritime Village itself was petty deserted when we visited it early in the morning until about almost noon. The weather was lovely is the views were stunning. The museum provided some interesting history and background on the area. It is worth spending some time to soak up the history before heading out to the village itself. Included with the entrance fee is feed for the ducks in the pond which the kids enjoyed feeding. The younger ones can also embark on a treasure hunt if they wish which can also be fun for the whole family. Overall, the Maritime Village is a pretty good family attraction which served as a great prelude for us before setting out on the Great Ocean Road.

Visited 31st of March was really good vibes and very relaxing, lots of informational content, very interactive. Special mention to Sean the volunteer blacksmith for demonstrating and explaining blacksmithing to us. We are all between 15 and 19 and it was enjoyed by all, would definitely recommend Flagstaff hill for educational purposes and would return very soon thanks for all the excitement cant wait to see the light show !! :)

My suggestion it to purchase the day/night ticket and either attend the village and light show on the same day, or split them, as we do, over two days. The village itself isn't overly large, however that doesn't mean there's little to see and do. To the contrary, it's a wonderful place and with great stories told by the staff. Take your time (if this is your thing), listen and watch the pre-entry video, and try and send you mind back 160 or so years. Back to a time when, as they say in the classics; men were men. The Sound and Light show was great, the only issue being that my camera ran out of battery some 40 minutes in. Silly me! I suggest that this is a must see for anyone with even the most minor of interest in our coastal history as the depiction is top class and all encompassing. One thing I did conclude and which I think you may like to consider is that on heading down to the show you have 2 options; to walk or be taken in an open transport. We walked as it was the most appropriate and arguably more satisfying. Only issue is, the transport arrives first and in turn its travellers the best seats. IMHO, try and sit in the middle at the front. Highly recommended.
