  First visit here today for lunch, and we were very happy with our meals. Nice pleasant surroundings, happy staff that actually smiled and wished a great day when we left, and food that was quick, hot and delicious. Thanks for a great Sunday lunch. We'll definitely visit again.

  Night one of three nights. Comm games has just finished. Arrived after 4pm and had to check-in upstairs in the hotel. Friendly staff sorted out a room in the top level (1-8) river view section of the motel for us, but forgot to give us the key which we noticed when we returned downstairs, however motel staff member from downstairs reception opened up again to retrieve the spare key for us - very helpful and appreciated. Very strong chlorine smell in hallway outside room. Vaguely musty/mouldy smell in room. Bathroom dated but functional. Carpet has seen better days. Disturbing tendency of cheap tabletop to absorb moisture from ice-cold drinking glass condensation leaving alarming stain, however that appears to disappear by the morning when it dries out, but in the meantime you do wonder if you are going to be slugged a damage bill. Balcony could do with screen door to allow airflow without insect hassles. Air con functional but the fan bearings are stuffed and therefore noisy. Window curtain hanging off rail in parts. Bed appears to be clean and is pretty comfortable. Walls in room adjacent to bathroom have pock marks and paint bubbles near floor suggestive of previous issues with moisture from bath tub. I know I'm only paying $110/night but the painted over damage should be removed. The hotel/motel is surrounded by a vast retail precinct, so absolutely no complaints regarding access to shopping. No big department stores though. Does have a Bunnings. Adjacent to freeway, so access to shopping malls (Robina, Helensvale, etc.) is just a 15 minute drive. Night two: Had dinner at the hotel, patron with annoying child took ages to order and we were third in line, so we switched to ordering at the sportsbar (smaller menu). The staff here are really helpful and like any good place if you are nice to them they are nice and friendly in return. Our short-order food arrived after a reasonable wait and was competently prepared. Back at the motel and despite using repellent and keeping the balcony door of the room shut, I've been the main dish at the mosquito banquet - they are the stealth variety. Advice to management regarding my review: avoid the glib response prevalent in other (less than 100% happy) reviews of your establishment, it doesn't reflect well.

  Very disappointed. We went to the hinterland hotel for a birthday lunch. Once we had ordered the food one of our meals didn't come out. The man at the counter said we didn't order it, which we clearly did he just didn't put it through. So one of our entourage went without food due to their error. The food is very nice, just the service could have been better. This is not the second time it has happened.

  Great place. We go to the Hinterland regularly for meal, drinks etc and always had a great time. Meals are lovely, very generous servings and big shout out to Tee our waitress who is always smiling and bubbly and knows us by name now! Kids room /play area is great. Tina at the bar is also gives us such a warm welcome. Decent drink prices and a good selection of wines on the menu is always a big plus for me. I even had my 40th birthday celebration in the function room and the whole process went so smoothly. I can highly recommend the Hinterland Hotel!

  Upon arrival to this hotel, you need to be alert to find the hotel reception. When you enter, you need to look for a small sign directing you to reception. The check in was slow because, I did not notice this and had to wait at the bar to be checked in. When you are checked in, you will be charged a $10 deposit. There was no one to help with bags or take me to my room. Parking is available, but if you don’t like stairs, you will be in for a bad surprise. Parking spots are labelled but it is obvious other patrons do not follow them. The room itself has a very country cabin feel to it. The rooms are small, but good for an overnight stay. Th air conditioner managed to cool the room well but was quiet noisy. Their is ample cupboard storage if you need it. The bathroom is very dated and does not have any windows that will open. Not great when sharing with someone who does very smelly number 2s. The shower pressure was a piercing mist and was very hard to get the temperature under control. If you are staying on the weekend, just note the club section is open till 4pm and has loud music. Although it didn’t both us, it would someone who has very good hearing. Check out as easy, simply leaving the keys in the room.
