I love Macleans book store. It has such an amazing range, it's well organised, the staff have always been friendly, and they will order in for you if you want something they don't currently have in stock. Their kids section is well stocked, and visually appealing. This is so important for capturing the interest and attention of young readers. Instilling an early love of reading is something I’m passionate about. So it’s been lovely to see staff engage with and encourage young readers, and never show any concern about little fingers exploring the books. Get them while they’re young, and you’ll have readers for life. I do have to say that they're a little pricey. You could easily spend less online. However, you’d miss the sensory feast that is the smell, texture, and atmosphere of surrounding yourself with real books. Personally, I'm willing to pay a little extra, and drive a little further to support my local independent book treasure trove. Given the location in bustling Beaumont Street Hamilton, parking is at a premium. You might have more luck parking in one of the many side streets. So it may not be the most easily accessible store to access, and from memory there is a step to navigate to enter the store, so keep in mind that it might not be wheelchair friendly. It’s well worth it to spend time in this little gem if you can.

Cosy, small, well stocked with good mix of books of most genres. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable in helping to search for books. Parking is a challenge though.
