The diploma of counselling is a very affordable and flexible course. The course readings and workbook are pretty interesting and relatable and the online lecture vids are good but could have improvements. The presence of a strong online student community was a suprising bonus. Student services staff have always been warm and willing to help. Overall a 5 from me

I started with the AIPC self-paced study course in the Diploma I incorporated home study and home study tutes with assessments done at home. Was so easily managed and presented with working full time and kids of my own. In unit 12 I was lucky enough to volunteer working placement with the Salvation Army for 2 years giving me support in my learning and the career I had chosen. The diploma gives you the power to be self-employed or work for another. I chose my own business where I choose how often to work, and what I charge. I have now been successfully involved in the Counselling industry since 2012. I have joined the South Australian Professional Counselling Association SAPCA and have been the president for the last 3 years as to give back to our industry and see fellow counsellors thrive. I am also able to gain award industry points through opd and Supervision through SAPCA ... I loved being on board with the AIPC Thankyou AIPC for all you help and support. Michelle Price

Without the Australian Institute of Professional Counselling my husband and I would not have our own business that employs 5 - 8 staff. We completed the Diploma which gave us 5 credits to select Universities in Australia where we completed Undergraduate Degrees, these degrees provided nothing but statistics and history. Without the AIPC diploma we would not have known where to start with Counselling clients. The structure of the course allows you to commence counselling "real" people as soon as you are finished. We hire 90% of our staff from the AIPC as we know the calibre of the training and the excellent content of the Diploma/Degree. The ease in which you can study from your own home is refreshing and the staff are always friendly if you need assistance. The fact you can finish the Diploma in 1 year or 10 years is excellent, you don;t feel hurried or on a time restriction. Anyone wishing to do a Diploma of Professional Counselling or a Degree then look no further, we refer to the AIPC and will continue to do so.

I am posting this review as a warning to potential students, AIPC engages in misleading advertising & when they tell you it's self paced learning & you can take as long as you need & there's no further charges, you are being mislead. I invested thousands in my course, then not long after starting, life got in the way, relationship breakdown & separation, sick child, father passed & then my own health went, but it was always my intention to come back to the course & I was confident that there would be no problem, as I'd been told repeatedly that time isn't an issue. Boy was I wrong! When I contacted AIPC about restarting my course, I was told it had been too long & they would only give me a 50% credit on what I had already paid, so I would need to invest thousands more if I wished to finish what I started. I was also told that I could take it to Fair Trading, but they won't do anything after 3 years has passed. So obviously this is a conversation that has taken place with other students who have been placed in the same situation & therefore AIPC believes they can mislead people & have no consequences. Extremely immoral & unprofessional. I went through their complaints "process", another thing that is misleading, as they say you can complain to the CEO & then appeal to the board if you're unhappy with the decision, yet it is only one person, the CEO, making the decision in both instances. So of course I complained & raised issues such as misleading advertising on both time & money issues, & also discrimination issues, but to date they have not responded to ANY of these issues & only state that if I wish to continue I can cough up more money. I feel so strongly about this injustice that I will continue warning others about AIPC & if I can help just 1 person from being mislead then fantastic.
