Enjoyed a brilliant night of Jazz guitar in the basement bar. An intimate setting where you are up close and personal with the musicians. Dim lighting, comfy chairs and stools... The basement bar is cash only. Jazz night is Tuesday night and entry is $20 for non NIMA members or $10 for members. The Grand Hotel is a beautiful iconic building , definitely worth a visit. Especially on jazz night.

The property has so much potential but is dimmed by small details. It's an absolutely beautiful old building, well taken care of, with great, refurbished rooms, super clean and even with a decent WiFi. No elevator but should be ok as you're warned of that from the moment you do the reservation. My dislike with the place was the restaurant downstairs. Food was really below the average and the staff was not even trying to provide a good service. Great probably for couple of beers, but if you're having a burguer or so, I don't recommend it.

Attended the Tuesday Jazz performance that highlights the talent and skill of the indie jazz scene. Highly recommended if fan of the genre.

excellent staff , good ales , I've had 2 of the specials on the menu also excellent. downside awful loud music even when I was the only customer , oh and the horrible smell of cigarette smoke coming from the open doors of the gaming area. won't be going back.

A nice old pub, set in West end of Newcastle. Rooms are big and beds are very comfy. Typical older style accom, so don't expect 5star there. Rooms are clean and tidy, and staff helpful. Walking distance to water and coffee shops, too. I'd definitely stay again. (advertise free parking, but that's on the street, but that's ok)
