::Never get a credit card from ANZ because when you want to cancel it they put you through hell! The walk-in teller are all very nice people, but when you have to deal with those sitting behind the computer screen, especially when you want to cancel a service you're instantly being treated as second class citizen! I came into this branch to cancel my credit cards but was turned away by one lady and told to bring the actual credit cards in because she needs to send them off to the provider! So I did came back the next day, brought my credit cards, was made waiting for 10 minutes before I lost my patience. I got a very nice man from the teller came over to serve me. All he did was just taking a photocopy of the credit cards and gave the cards back to me! I asked doesn't he need to send it away and he said no! Anyway the cards were destroyed in store. Now why the hell would the other lady told me to bring the credit cards back when they can be cancelled on the system and the cards can be destroyed at home!!! She just didn't want to process it for me. She just blatantly lied, especially if it doesn't help her performance when a credit service gets cancelled? What kind of service are they offering here? I think the tellers and the service provider (who have nice desk and computer to sit at) should switch place! It didn't end there. After my cards were destroyed I was told someone will give me a call later in the afternoon when they get cancelled on the system. Nobody called! So I had to call up the general ANZ number to cancel the credit accounts over the phone. And I now realised why I was treated with disgust at the branch. ANZ will go to such great lengths to stop their customers from closing any credit accounts. This guy on the phone was trying to get me to change my mind! He was offering rates and benefits and even combine my credit cards into 1 when I was telling him to just cancel them, at least 5 times over! Don't these people get it? If someone wants to cancel the service just cancel it! Don't harass them to change their mind! So after putting my foot firm on the ground for 10 minutes the message finally got through. I was going to consider ANZ for my new house mortgage but after this experience never again will I come back here. I am considering cancelling my normal ANZ bank cards now. I can find more honest banks and service elsewhere. Such a waste of my time.
