  I was referred to Daya for my Lasik Surgery. He explained to me all the treatment options, took the time to discuss the pros and cons of each. I discovered that there are so many options other than just Lasik. Now it is amazing to be able to drive without glasses. I can play sport and its AMAZING. Thanks for your professionalism, and gentle approach to get me through this treatment. Dr Sharma has changed my life.

  ***NOT HAPPY JAN!*** I was referred to Dr Daya Sharma mid-February (this year) after an incident involving my eyes. During the consultation I found him to be professional, easy-going, with a great 'bed-side' manner (especially when it came to answering the many questions I had). However, this is where his clinic lost me... On the 26th of Feb at Dr Sharma’s request I underwent a MRI scan so that we might ascertain what had caused my vision issues. Upon completing the scan I was told that the results would be emailed back to the referring clinic to be examined by the referring Dr. At no point was I ever told that it would be up to me to follow-up my own results. So I waited to be contacted....and wait I did.... After a week I decided to call the clinic myself. Given that fact that the scans cost me $345.00 (with no Medicare or Private Health Fund rebate) I figured I should, (at the very least!) be entitled to a 'phone call' and a few minutes of the clinics time to discuss my results. Upon explaining my initial frustration at having not being contacted to one of the female members of staff, (who seemed to be as dissapointed as I was) I was then assured that she, would not only send an internal (not good enough!) email to the relevant people concerned but that I would be contacted within that day or at least the following day... 'Nothing!' Another week later (Mar 16) I decided to call again enquiring once more as to the reason I had yet to be contacted but more importantly to get my results. I even asked if there was a note against my file with regard to my previous conversation with the female employee a week earlier. Once again 'nothing!' No file entry, Not even a “Sorry” from the staff member I was talking too for their lack of follow-up. Finally, I was put through to Dr Daya Sharma who (within a minute I might add), confirmed that my scans were in fact fine and that there was nothing adverse or irregular. “Now was that too much to ask?” Seriously, are we all so consumed by making money that we've forgotten it is those who we seem to treat with contempt are actually the ones who provide us with our life-styles? Especially when we're paying large amounts of money either in initial consultations fees or further medical diagnosis. Is it really asking too much that we 'mere mortals' be treated like human beings, and receive a simple 'telephone call?' To me the word 'professional', especially in the medical fraternity seems to bandied about all too often these days, when for the most part there is nothing 'professional' about them. Perhaps a six-week course on 'people skills' and business management should be part of the medical curriculum for those looking to one-day establish their own practices. Seriously, if they can study for 6-8 years for their medical degree, what’s another six weeks in the scheme of things… Oh, and let’s not kid ourselves for one minute that it’s all 'about the client and their well-being'. Please…it’s all about the bottom line…pure and simple!
