Perfect location and nice hotel. Can't fault it at all.

There were two members of staff behind the reception desk when I arrived, one was on the phone with another customer, the other looked at me then immediately left the room leaving me waiting for fifteen minutes while the other finished on the phone. Not ideal but not a major issue but staff also seemed very confused about our booking arrangements. Someone had made my booking for me as I was with a group attending our conference and the staff at the desk seemed could only find my booking after I tried names of other people from my group who it might be under even though once she found the booking my name was also under it. Not sure why she couldn't also just search by my name since my name was clearly also in the system but maybe it's a limitation of the software they use. I was charged a $50 deposit on arrival even though the room was already paid for and told this was "in case I broke something" which made me feel a bit like a naughty child. I was not aware there would be a deposit and also had to pay the whole deposit for the room I was sharing with others since I arrived first. Again not a big deal but one of a lot of little things that added up to a sub par experience. The person who made the bookings for our group had also arranged for us to move to another quest branch mid way through our stay but none of the staff we dealt with seemed to know what was going on with this and couldn't give clear answers about whether we would be required to pay a second deposit when we switched. I understand that this may not be a common situation resulting in confusion. The room itself was dark with Windows facing straight onto brick walls outside. It was a twin share room but literally had full sized mirrors on most walls including as the kitchenette splash back and behind both beds which made it feel kind of weird and sleazy for a work related stay. The small bathroom was also placed directly in front of one of the beds and had translucent glass walls. Luckily the lights are set up in a way that you can't actually see any awkward silhouettes when someone is using the shower but it still felt like a pretty uncomfortable arrangement when sharing with a colleague. As well as the standard minibar fare there were other items scattered around the room that seemed intended to trick you into consuming them before realising they actually came at additional cost including water bottles on either side of both beds with branding that said "thank you" making them appear like free gifts and $2 price tags that are only visible when you turn them around. This seemed like a pretty pointless scheme when the room is equipped with a kitchenette where you can pour yourself free tap water but I guess these kinds of hotels are Keen to make extra cash anyway they can. The bathrooms have a note in them encouraging patrons to reuse their towels because quest is "passionate about the environment". This didn't really matter it just seemed like a weak statement given the lights in the room are set up in a way that you kind of have no choice but to turn them all on at once and again the plastic bottled water etc. didn't really add up to show a deep concern for the envirobment. The free WiFi allowance is only 250mb per room per day regardless of the number of people staying in the room which is a pretty weak offering considering even cheap hostels offer 500mb per person per day. It was also a bit of a problem for us since we had multiple people to a room and needed iternet to work on conference presentations. I wouldn't book this hotel again if I had the choice. If it was cheaper I could forgive the average service and amenities but at these process I really expect a bit better.

I stayed here for 4 weeks for work. Close to the city and public transport. Reception staff always really lovely and the rooms were always clean. Plush carpet was a nice touch! Definitely one of the better Quests I have stayed in.
