::I was brought up with British Fish and Chips which are renowned for being too greasy but unfortunately these were way over the top. We chose here because of the reviews even though from the outside it looks like a complete dive. Iโm sorry but although the staff were wonderful, professional and polite I couldnโt eat there again.

::A++ 5* - This place not only has best fish n chips in Mackay.... The lovely owners and staff are also locals who are friendly and helpful... The owners and staff. Helped me when a nasty man was following me and harrassing me on my way home this morning. I am extremely grateful. Thanks again John and staff! ๐๐๐

::Very expensive Fish and Chips shop in Mackay I am affraid. ๐ค But compliments to it's friendly Staff. The shop itself needs desperately renos inside to bring more customers. In my 'vintage' lady's ๐๐ตopinion the best 'Fish and Chips Place is...At Home!๐ ๐๐ Cheap, healthier (you know the oil you cook in*)๐ How hard it is to make your own potato chips and cook them without fat in the oven? Not hard at all !๐๐ค๐ Heat oven to 180C, and in the mean time just peel potatoes, cut them into long pieces, (*you can also sprinkle some herbs on potato pieces) Then you lay those pieces into flat try covered with baking paper and insert them into hot oven for around 30 min. Turn/shake them during baking until golden, and 'voilร ' -your chips are ready. Fish. It all depends what kind of fish you like. I like Red Emperor or Sweet Lip. They're expensive fish but very yummy!๐ If you go to 'Seafresh' in River St. or other fish suppliers in Mackay, you can buy those fish in bulk of 3kg or 10kg. Already filleted, frozen and packed up in plastic between fillets. What you only need to do then is to 'bargain' the price down๐, buy it and bring it home. You leave those frozen fish fillets overnight in the fridge to thew. In the morning all fish will be ready to separate, cut out spine/middle bones, (that you can use it later on to cook a lovely fish soup!๐๐. So after that you cut/make desired portions. Then you wrap them up into glad wrap and put them into your freezer! Then you can cook your own fish to your likening whenever you want. Bon appetite. ::Not to bad place ๐ค to order fish ๐and chips๐ or other seafood๐ค, but expensive to my likening. I am an old fasioned 'vintage' 'grumpy' lady ๐ต born in late 1950's, and I prefer to cook my fish at home ๐ก hey!๐๐๐Chips not so, but I can still do them in an 'old' way by peeling, cutting potatos into wedges, and cooking them without oil on the tray in the oven. 'Easy peasy'๐๐...and cheap too!๐ But for people who like to buy ready, quick fish meals...then go to 'Sea Shanty' on Nebo Rd. Or 'Vella's in Sydney St. Or else. I don't care. It's everybody's choice.๐๐ I need to think about retirement soon, so I am a bit wary on spending money on eating out hey! Of course, my partner and I we go once a 'blue moon' to maybe 'North Mackay Bowls Club' or else, but as I said...once a 'blue moon'...๐ค๐๐๐
