::Don't go to this pub. Me and my friends arrived here, admittedly, late. Also admittedly, we were intoxicated. A little back story. I am a hospitality professional who has managed pubs and bars for almost 20 years. I have never written a Google review, for anything. But after the way I was treated at this place... So, we arrived. The security told us that my 3 friends were allowed in, but I was not. Like I said, I'd been drinking, but he hardly looked at me and made no attempt to engage with me. I don't mind being refused for intoxication, but in my years of experience, the norm is to try and engage in a conversation with the so-called intoxicated person ie: "hey mate, how you doing, have you had a bit to drink tonight?" No attempt was made, in fact, the security officer hardly looked at me and never spoke to me. I was honest with him and the manager who came out; "yes, we are all drunk, we've all been drinking together" I explained that we were all as drunk as each other, but I was not knock down dangerous drunk. I was just happy. Pissed, certainly, but after a life time of concentration on the concept of RSA, I just wasnt anywhere near the accepted industry norm of incoherence or a danger to myself or others. So the ONLY conclusion I can come to is that the decision to refuse me was made arbitrarily based on my appearance. I say this as his decision was made in one second. He hardly looked at me, and certainly didn't try to talk to me. If I were management, I would have concerns about my security contractors, and it's not like I didn't chuckle when the hipster-bearded manager came out and basically repeated the same words to me that have been coming out of my mouth for the last 18 years back to me, BUT, if I were you guys, I'd be concerned about your security guys knocking back people who just want to have a good time, aren't so overly intoxicated that they will cause a negative effect in your venue, and most importantly had money to put in your tills. I have worked at venues that have suffered due to over zealous security, and have decided to change. I know you don't care, but neither myself or my friends will be attending ever again.
