  Ho avuto un'ottima esperienza, staff gentile e disponibilissimo. Sono riuscita a risolvere il mio problema che richiedeva una certa urgenza in tempi ottimi! Consiglio a chiunque abbia bisogno di recarsi in Consolato dove ricevera' un servizio eccellente. Un ringraziamento particolare al gentilissimo ANTONIO SCALATI, che si e' preso cura di me e ha fatto di tutto per assicurarsi che venissi aiutata il giorno stesso, dato che si trattava di un'emergenza e io abito lontana da Melbourne. Una persona veramente squisita, premurosa ed empatica, che ti tratta come un essere umano e non come un numero. Magari ci fossero piu' persone come lui a ricoprire ruoli di questo genere!! L'unica cosa negativa del consolato sono le linee telefoniche (non riesci a parlare con nessuno, nemmeno con il servizio a pagamento) e i servizi email (ti rispondono con email automatiche che non aiutano per le informazioni che hai bisogno), comprensibilmente per me che abito a 400km da Melbourne questo e' un problema non da poco.

  My friend loose her Italian passport few month ago. She moved in another state in Australia and said to me to go to the consolato and ask if they found her passport. She sent them an email but they never reply. What I found was this rude man that explain me that I am nobody for ask about passports that are not mine. There are different ways to explain things, say just :"I am sorry but we can not say nothing for privacy" was enough. I didn't expect this treatment and I hope that I will never put my feet inside a place like that . What I did I left name and surname of my friend. Thank you for your service and your really unnecessary bad-manners!

  There are some good staff there and some bad staff there! It is hit and miss. The process of obtaining recognition of Italian citizenship by descent and an Italian passport was long and painful, and quite expensive! I nearly gave up many times as there seemed to be one hurdle after another. I had to make several appointments and each time I saw someone different they gave me different information! In the end I succeeded in obtaining both and became an expert at making the online bookings. I believe staff there should be more helpful in general as some were quite incompetent and very rude. They are there to provide a service, and presumably to assist people, so they need to develop an attitude of compassion and understanding towards people. Some of the people who work there should take a leaf out of the Australian ethos of giving people a fair go and providing good customer service.
